Gary has over 27 years of experience, with the last 20 years in waste management. Gary is a former hazardous waste technical advisor for the Environment Agency and was closely involved in the implementation of the 2005 Hazardous Waste Regulations and the technical guidance on hazardous waste. Gary is a Chartered Waste Manager and MCIWM - Full Member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) and sits on CIWM’s Hazardous Waste Steering Committee and Waste Regulation Steering Committee. He is a registered Qualified Person with CL:AIRE; and a certificated expert witness with experience providing expert reports and representation in court.
His key day-to-day technical role is to provide waste regulatory expertise on a wide range of engineering and environmental projects; including environmental consenting and permitting; environmental and technical due diligence studies to UK and International standards; and hazardous waste classification training in the waste management sector.
Updates to the hazardous waste classification methodology
Hazardous Waste Classification Technical Guidance Document WM3 is the UK’s ‘bible’ for hazardous waste classification assessment. The document will be updated in summer following amendments to the Ecotoxic hazardous property assessment process. The seminar will provide an update on the revised methodology, with a focus on the assessment of contaminated soil.
